Technical Director (AI Sales Systems)

Maidenhead (Office-Based) | Full-time
£70,000 – £100,000 + Equity (EMI)

About the Role

Making AI Work is an AI Systems Integrator focused on improving measurable sales performance in B2B organisations.

We do not build software. We take proven AI tools and implement them properly inside real businesses — integrating them into workflows, connecting systems, and ensuring they deliver measurable commercial outcomes.

Most organisations are experimenting with AI.

But what they actually have is:

  • A CRM
  • Spreadsheets
  • Manual processes
  • A few disconnected tools
  • Very little measurable impact

This role exists to address that.

We are starting with sales as the initial focus area. Over time, the business will expand across other functions, building out end-to-end AI-enabled systems across the organisation as we become a true systems integrator.

You will be the first employee in the business, working directly with the founder and taking full ownership of building and delivering AI-powered sales systems within client systems and workflows.

This is a role for someone who wants to build, not maintain. You will define how this is done.

What You’ll Do

You will own technical delivery across client engagements from initial scoping through to stable, fully operational systems.

This includes:

  • Translating commercial objectives into practical system designs
  • Selecting and implementing AI tools from an established internal stack
  • Integrating systems into CRM and existing infrastructure
  • Building automation workflows using tools such as Make, Zapier, n8n and APIs
  • Ensuring data flows correctly across systems
  • Resolving real-world integration challenges where systems and data are imperfect
  • Embedding solutions into client workflows so they are adopted and used in practice
  • Ensuring systems deliver measurable improvements in sales performance

You will also define how delivery is structured, including:

  • Implementation approach and sequencing
  • Standards, playbooks and SOPs
  • Ongoing optimisation and support models

Over time, you will build and lead the technical function.

What Success Looks Like

  • AI systems are fully implemented, adopted and delivering measurable improvements in sales performance
  • A clear and repeatable delivery approach is established
  • Systems operate reliably within real client environments
  • Strong alignment between commercial objectives and technical execution
  • Foundations are in place to scale the technical function

This Role Is For Someone Who

  • Thinks in systems, not tools
  • Is interested in how sales organisations actually operate
  • Can translate complexity into structured, practical execution
  • Is comfortable working in real-world environments where systems and data are imperfect
  • Communicates clearly and without unnecessary complexity
  • Takes ownership of outcomes, not just outputs
  • Brings a calm, structured and commercially aware approach

Experience & Skills

  • Experience implementing and integrating SaaS tools within business environments
  • Strong experience working with APIs and building automation workflows
  • Practical experience applying AI capabilities within real-world systems and workflows
  • Active, hands-on engagement with AI tools and technologies
(either professionally or through serious personal exploration over at least 1–2 years)
  • Comfortable experimenting, testing and validating new AI capabilities as they evolve
  • Experience with platforms such as Make, Zapier, n8n or equivalent
  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Experience working with clients or senior stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and delivery quality

Experience within sales or revenue operations environments is beneficial but not required.

Package

  • £70,000 – £100,000 salary
  • Equity participation (EMI scheme, target 5% subject to agreement)
  • 30 days holiday
  • Pension scheme
